Highgate House

Description

This striking red brick and carved stone detached house is set in an extensive and mature garden with a rear annex containing an indoor swimming pool and ancillary leisure facilities.

Our design proposes a modest ground floor rear extension that does not detract from the main volume of the house, and largely focusses on working with the existing layout to create coherent arrangement that reinstates the grand proportions of existing rooms. The first principle was to reorder the floor plan to create a central axis to between the front and rear of the property to improve circulation and flow, but equally importantly, to open up long vistas straight to the garden.  We relocated the kitchen to the rear of the house, creating a bright and sociable living space with extended views over the garden and improved access via oversized pivot doors.

The luxurious master suite is spread across the first floor offering dual aspect views to the front and rear gardens.  The floor is also shared by several generously sized bedrooms and self-contained guest suites. At roof level, an exceptional number of rooms and entertainment spaces are gained through the loft extension; providing  amenities for growing family needs.
